Future Initiative

Bouccan Carre

NGO:

Partners in Health (PIH), Partners in Agriculture (PIA), and various diocese of SC

Project Scope:

Bouccan Carre's design and construction goals focus on a rural, long-term plan in concurrence with Haiti's considerable infrastructure needs.

PIH and PIA have expressed existing infrastructure needs and the necessity of partnering with design and construction expertise to meet those needs. Even though a lack of infrastructure existed well before the earthquake, the influx of people returning to their homes from PauP only exacerbated the situation.

Future project needs involve coordinating a "site visit" to identify and prioritize the community's needs and from that assessment develop a process with which to embark upon the project

Current, possible community inclusions:

Medical clinics, hospitals, schools, churches, community buildings, homes, water and sanitation systems, roads, and bridges.

Partners in Agriculture (PIA) and Partners in Health (PIH) seek effective solutions that use local labor, extend their knowledge and use of local materials, and alternative energies. It is vital that we build in the context of Haiti, with Haitians, and it is also an opportunity to bring dignity and justice to the built environment.

This project will begin with a site visit and culminate in a future charette and fundraisor, following the Port au Prince endeavor.
